Track Progress, Communicate Actions, and Meet Expectations

Assessment Reports

We engage with external parties such as non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and independent consultants from time to time to ensure a check-and-balance in our sustainability progress. In addition, our customers will also conduct their own assessment on us periodically to ensure that we uphold our commitments, as outlined in our Sustainable Palm Oil Policy (SPOP) as well as other policies that are derived from it. Click on links below to view and download our external party assessment reports.

We also report all our activities, progress updates, initiatives, etc, annually in our Annual Sustainability Report. Please click here for all our reports.

IOI integrates sustainability into every aspect of its operations through its commitment to produce in an environmentally sound and sustainable manner. As a founding member of the RSPO, we have been playing an active role in promoting sustainable practices since its inception in 2004. We also advocate sustainable agricultural practices in its estates to bring growth and use of certified sustainable palm oil (CSPO) to the world market. To date, all of our palm oil mills and estates in Malaysia (except mills and estates of our newly-acquired entity Unico-Desa Plantation Berhad) have successfully attained the RSPO certification.

Further to RSPO certification for our palm oil mills and supply bases, all of our operating units and supply chain units in Malaysia and overseas have successfully obtained the RSPO Supply Chain Certification which allows IOI to sell CSPO to our clients worldwide.

IOI is also actively pursuing the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) for our palm oil mills and estates in Malaysia. ISCC is the first international certification system that can be used to prove sustainability and greenhouse gas savings for all kinds of bio-mass and bio-energy.

In March 2018, IOI's Sustainable Palm Oil Policy (SPOP) was revised to include our commitment towards MSPO certification. Under Section 4 “Existing Plantations” of the SPOP, IOI stated that we are “committing towards sustainable production of palm oil and its continuous improvement as outlined in the MSPO guidelines. In supporting the Malaysian government’s target, we will ensure all our Malaysian plantations are MSPO certified by the end of 2018.”

IOI's manufacturing premises are ISO 9001:2000 and HACCP accredited. They are also certified and accredited by globally recognised bodies in various areas of quality and international standards compliance.

The list of our subsidiaries’ accreditations from various bodies can be viewed at IOI Oleochemical website and Bunge Loders Croklaan website respectively.
