Growing from Our Roots, Building for the Future

Driven by progress, commitment, and resilience, IOI has risen from humble beginnings to become a leading force in the plantation industry. With plantation at the core of our business and a legacy of breaking new ground, we continue to forge new paths throughout Malaysia and expand our reach into Indonesia.

We are diversifying into other higher value crops such as coconuts to generate better returns from our existing landbank. We have also started producing our own planting materials, including hybrid Matag coconuts, at our newly established seed garden, which has been set up to develop new and improved materials for the future expansion of the Group.

To optimise revenue during replanting, we are increasing crop diversity through intercropping. Recently, we have planted durians, avocados, bananas and pineapples which are considered as cash crops.

Adding further to our sustainability efforts, we have embarked on the enhanced Economic, Environmental, Social and Governance (EESG), a newer framework that expands on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) by explicitly including economic considerations. It recognises that sustainability efforts must be financially viable for long-term success.

Advancing Digitalisation and Automation

We are leading the way in digitalisation, mechanisation, and automation across our plantation and mill operations. By integrating technologies like the IOI ESG Digitalisation Platform, an electronic plantation monitoring system (ePMS), Geographic Information System (GIS) and drones, we optimise crop management, enhance sustainability, and improve efficiency.

Our mechanised fresh fruit bunches (FFB) harvesting and evacuation system further streamlines operations, reducing reliance on manual workers, while the SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system integrates data to improve production efficiency and consistency.

Greening Nature with Malaysia's First Organic Palm Oil

IOI Group has established Southeast Asia's first organic certified oil palm plantation in the Pamol Kluang region, producing organic palm oil through sustainable practices. By prioritising soil health and biodiversity, IOI has successfully reduced its reliance on synthetic chemicals and promoted a healthier ecosystem.

Our commitment to sustainable agriculture is further validated by the RSPO and organic certifications achieved in February 2024 for 1,128 hectares of organic oil palm.

Sustainably Grown Agricultural Products and Livestock

IOI Group's agricultural activities extend beyond its primary focus. At Sagil Estate in Johor, Malaysia, a diverse range of fruit varieties and deer farming operations complement the Group's main crop. This diversification reflects our commitment to maximising land use and exploring a variety of agricultural offerings.
