Proactive Approach to Wildfire Preparedness
Wildfires not only cause habitat loss and threaten the safety and health of communities and workers, they may cause severe damage to crops, equipment and release locked carbon within the soil.
IOI Group takes proactive fire management and prevention practices by conducting fire drills, regular communication of fire prevention SOPs for employees and taking part in landscape approach, multistakeholder collaborations for fire prevention. To further fortify these efforts, we have implemented IOI’s Fire Management Guidelines across all IOI operations to protect people, wildlife and the plantation areas from fire.

Zero Burning Policy
IOI Group has been in full compliance with the ASEAN Policy on Zero Burning for all our plantation operations for more than two decades. The Zero Burning Policy is based on the fundamentals laid out in the Malaysian Environment Quality Act 1974 (EQA 1974) and Guidelines for the Implementation of the ASEAN Policy on Zero Burning. We constantly monitor our concessions for potential fire hotspots using NASA FIRMS remote sensing system and RSPO’s Hotspot Hub.
