2021MayBSR (Business for Social Responsibility) facilitated our first virtual Sustainability Consultation Forum (SCF) on 18 May 2021 with the attendance of 40 of IOI Group’s (IOI) senior leadership and management team as well as 14 external participants from the RSPO, MPOCC, Jabatan Tenaga Kerja, international brands and IOI’s Sustainability Advisory Panel, where discussions were centred on efforts to address the current labour challenges that are faced by IOI and the palm oil sector in Malaysia with specific focuses on 1) Responsible Recruitment Practices, particularly in Peninsular Malaysia, and 2) Legalisation, particularly in Sabah.
2021MayIOI Corporation Berhad kicks off a climate risk assessment, which follows the Taskforce on Climate-Related Financial Disclosure (TCFD) guidelines. Subsequently, interviews and workshops with key management personnel will be scheduled from June till September 2021, in line with our new reporting and disclosure frameworks with all our stakeholders.
2021MarchIOI Corporation Berhad (IOI) achieved a significant breakthrough in the dispute resolution for IOI Pelita Plantation Sdn Bhd’s land in Miri, Sarawak, where IOI Pelita will relinquish its interest over 5,000 hectares (ha) of native land, out of the total area of approximately 9,000 ha. The land will be declared a Native Communal Reserve by the Sarawak state government. The final dispute settlement will be discussed in the negotiation stage.
