IOI's superior performance in terms of oil yield and
production cost per hectare compared to the industry's average is partly
attributable to its advances in agronomy sciences. (Click here for

we firmly advocate development of agri-science and technology to improve crop
and oil yields to meet increasing global demands.
Our agronomy developments - spearheaded by its two centers of
excellence: i) IOI Research Centre and ii) Tissue Culture Center - centers on
developing agronomy best practices and the introduction of a high yielding
planting materials.

Material |
| The "IOI Deli x AVROS Hybrid" oil palm planting material is the product of
IOI's oil palm breeding and selection programme. Breeding is geared towards
developing oil palm planting material with high oil yield through high fresh
fruit bunch (FFB) yield and high oil to bunch ratio. A wide array of oil palm
germplasms has been assembled to ensure the continued improvement of the oil
palm planting material in the future. The breed has been proven in progeny
trials, comparative trials and commercial plantations. This special seed is

| Oil Palm Clones |
IOI also conducts micro-propagation from its state-of-the-art tissue
culture facility. Micro-propagation is a technique to propagate plants
(bypassing seeds) that are clones of its most elite palms with all the desired
traits. This bio-technique enables mass production of superior palm saplings
with the advantage of faster time to maturity - and has served our internal
replanting programs well. (Note: No genetic modification is done) |

| Nurseries |
| Seedlings and saplings derived from elite planting materials are
painstakingly natured for about a year in our 18 nurseries strategically located
throughout the country before transplanting to our more than 80 estates to meet
their annual replanting programs. |

| Continuous R&D |
Beside R&D work on planting materials and propagation, R&D
work in plantation management (involving soil, irrigation, organic
fertilization, etc) and mill engineering (i.e. effluent management, process
innovation, renewable energy, etc) bias towards agro-ecology are also
continuously being carried out. |

| Precision Agriculture |
| IOI also adopts precision agriculture technologies with the use of Global
Positioning Satellites (GPS) images/mapping and GIS analytical tools to optimize
efficiencies and timeliness in wide ranging estate management applications
involving replanting, fertilization, harvesting, and other condition variations
management. |

| Technical Services |
IOI has established Agronomic Advisory Services and Analytical
Laboratory Services to provide technical support for internal plantation needs
as well as to external parties in the following areas:
- Soil & foliar samplings and nutrient analyses
- Agronomic and Fertilizer recommendations for high crop productivity
- Foliar, Soil and Fertilizer analysis
- Quality and effluent testing for the palm oil
