IOI to revise its Group Sustainability Policy and publish a new Sustainability Implementation Plan
16/06/2016, Corporate Communications

In view of the recent findings by RSPO and continued allegations levelled by certain parties, IOI Corporation Berhad (IOI) has decided to revise its Group Sustainability Policy which is aimed at enhancing its sustainability commitments and applying a uniform set of policies across all its operating units. At the same time, IOI will also publish a Sustainability Implementation Plan (SIP) with clear deliverables and timelines stated which will demonstrate our commitment and accountability towards driving change.

The draft policy and implementation plan was circulated to our key stakeholders such as customers and NGOs on 27 May 2016 for their comments and feedback before the timeline of 10 June 2016. We have received valuable feedback from these stakeholders and we target to publish the final Group Sustainability Policy together with the SIP by 12 July 2016, after considering all the feedback and with the involvement of our external sustainability consultant.

In line with our sustainability governance structure, IOI Group Sustainability Steering Committee which is chaired by me will ensure the adherence of the Group's operating units to the Group Sustainability Policy and monitor the execution of the SIP in accordance with the stated timelines.

IOI reiterates its commitment towards building a world class palm oil business based on our published sustainability principles of no deforestation, zero burning, no planting on peat and driving positive socio-economic impact for people and communities.
